The Henry Ford's Interpretation Column

Client: The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
Studio: Bluecadet
Role: Lead developer
Technologies: Cinder, GLSL, openFrameworks

The Agriculture and the Environment Interpretation Column transforms an infrastructural element into new interpretive surfaces. It offers an introductory film, graphic panels, and two large-scale touch screens that explore the exhibit's key themes through the lives and work of Rachel Carson, George Washington Carver, and Luther Burbank.

For each of the featured innovators, the Interpretation Column attracts visitors with a life-sized portrait and a slideshow. Visitors can explore innovator stories through playful interactions such as finding hidden information through a lens, or unmasking an image layer through finger-drawing.

The Interpretation Column employs computer vision to detect visitors' presence. We integrated the exhibition with The Henry Ford's content management system developed by Bluecadet, so that curators can add or update content at any time.
